We rented Mynydd Ednyfed for a family 70th birthday celebration to cater for 16 people ranging in age from 2 to 70+
The house is in the perfect location - 2/3 mins drive or 20 mins walk from centre of Criccieth - with lovely sea views and lots and lots of space both inside and outside for everyone to enjoy themselves.
Inside - the bedrooms are spacious and all (except one) have full ensuite facilities, there is plenty of lounge space for relaxation (not that we had time), a bar to set up your own drinks station, a large conservatory which has dining area plus a pool table and table tennis table (enjoyed by all ages young and old)
Outside - the private and enclosed grounds provided the ideal space for lots of fun snd games with a full Tennis Court plus a superb outside kitchen area - ideal for preparing BBQ,s and pizzas - and an outside dining table and chairs
The equipment for the various indoor and outdoor sports and games is provided to ensure all are able to enjoy.
Finally - the hosts Maureen and Arwel - are well used to the hospitality business and they made us all extremely welcome and were always available to provide any assistance. We took advantage of their cooking skills to book two AGA suppers - the food was absolutely delicious and enjoyed by everyone and saved us the hassle of cooking for ourselves or finding restaurants to seat and feed a group of 16
All-in-All we enjoyed a perfect family celebration in the most charming location.
Conservatory area was where we spent most of our time when indoors, an it really is a great family room. Tables and chairs big enough to seat a very large group, cosy seating facing well kept gardens with a perfect view of Criccieth castle and the sea, the games room side of the conservatory was perfect for all the family with a pool table and table tennis.
The gardens are vast with plenty of areas to cook, dine and relax. The well kept tennis court provided hours of entertainment.
This property provides a good base for visiting local attractions. Cricceth can be visted by car in a few minutes but there is also a footpath just beyond the driveway that leads into the town. There is also a short walk available from the property which provides a viewing point for exceptional panoramic views of the local area.
Overall 10/10 and we will definitely be returning
Just to say what a lovely time my family and myself had on our 4 night long weekend break at this lovely house to celebrate my 60th birthday. The hosts Maureen and Arwel made us very welcome and although they lived on site never intruded on our privacy but were always there if we needed anything. The house was beautiful, the facilties were great and all got used - Tennis court, Outside kitchen - BBQ, and wood burning Pizza oven. Room for rounders and cricket on the substantial lush lawn. Beautiful gardens to relax in and plenty of hideaways to go and quietly read a book. The views from the house were magnificant over looking the bay of Criccieth and the back drop of the Snowdon mountains in the distance. For the walkers only a 20 minute walk across 3 fields into Criccieth and lots of nearby beach resorts to drive to with the children (and adults).
The house ws comfortable and relaxing. we were lucky that all 3 days for us the weather was gorgeous, but we all agreed even on a typical Welsh rainy day there was enough room in the house to relax or play pool, table tennis, card games, TV, bar (bring your own booze) and board games to keep you entertained.
Thank you from all 20 of us.....and the two dogs.

On arrival we were greeted by Maureen who gave us a quick tour of the downstairs, the floor plan for the upstairs rooms, that is available on the website, is super useful and made room allocation very easy! My advice to any guest is READ THE GUEST BOOK. The property is large and there is no way that Maureen can take you through all of the details, but the bible that is the guest book has all the information you need.
The property is quite simply delightful. Immaculately clean and it has everything you would need for a fabulous weekend gathering with friends, the bar area was a particular hit and just made a really relaxed space, and kept us all from gathering in the kitchen!! There is lots to keep adults and families entertained and the outdoor spaces are fantastic. Rain made the indoors used more than we would have wanted but it didn’t matter because 21 people had plenty of space to not be on top of each other. The children used the pool and ping pong tables as well as the huge TV in the sitting room whilst the adults made use of the fabulous conservatory and bar area.
On the Saturday we had all planned to walk up Snowdon, which we did, and the house is perfectly situated to get there in 30 mins. For those that don’t fancy walking a mountain, Criccieth is lovely with a beautiful beach and plenty of low level, and less strenuous things to do. The propriety is only a short distance from town, but best to drive than walk, but absolutely fab regardless. To be honest though, if you rent Mynydd Ednyfed you don’t really need to go anywhere as it is just wonderful and very easy to host a large group, without you being on top of each other, whilst also being super comfortable. In the evening we sampled the Aga suppers which were ‘out of this world’! They were super tasty, we went for the fish pie and beef bourgignon which were both amazing and perfect for hungry hikers!
Back to the house……the kitchen area is great and very well stocked with plenty of utensils, crockery etc. to host large groups. If I had one criticism it was that I wish we had been advised to bring washing liquid, dishwasher tablets and bin bags. It might be that there were some and I just didn’t look hard enough (or ask). There is a great recycling system and easy access bins to put everything in so tidying up wasn’t a problem at the end of the weekend.
So, if I could give this place 10 stars I would! Maureen is wonderful, incredibly friendly and helpful and the house is simply stunning. Beautifully kept, wonderful gardens and indoor spaces, amazingly comfortable and well supplied. I couldn’t recommend this enough for anyone looking for a country home where it is for adults or families, active or less adventurous. A wonderful place that we are thinking of going back to next year!!!
Apologies for the photos, www we’re having so much fun I didn’t take many of the house!!
Thank you!!!
A fantastic stay to celebrate a birthday with our extended family. The house is perfectly laid out, the garden beautiful and the presence of a bar area is fantastic for cocktails. We will more than likely be back!

What a wonderful place to stay! Lovely house and garden. Maureen and Arwel gave us a warm welcome. It's in a great spot, an easy walk into Criccieth for local beach, shops and pubs, and a short car journey to spectacular beaches further around the coast. Some great walks from the house and more demanding mountain ones a little further away. There are castles and the steam railway. Really everything for a great family holiday! Many thanks!

Wow, what a lovely house. We booked this for our multi-generational family holiday and what a great choice. The communal areas are large enough for the number of guests. We spent much of the in-house time in the conservatory dining/lounge and games area – very bright and airy. There is a very large Freeview TV in the original lounge. Bedrooms are all equally well furnished and most have en-suite bathrooms. Outside in the grounds, tennis and croquet were our most popular activities. The views from the house of the gardens and coast are lovely. We had mixed weather (stormy for the first couple of days) but we enjoyed spending time in the house. Locally, the hill behind the house and the walk down to Criccieth are easy treks. Notable visits were the Ffestiniog Railway and Portmeirion. One evening, at the recommendation of Maureen, we ate out at The Goat Inn, Tafarn Tr Afr – really great quality meals all round (book in advance). Many thanks to the owners Maureen and Arwel for a lovely house/holiday.

Enjoyed the most memorable week here in July 2023 for my husband's special birthday celebrations with family from 4 generations.
Was warmly welcomed by Maureen and her husband.
Grounds and house are spacious and well maintained. Impressive rooms, each very unique and beautifully decorated. Clean, well equipped kitchen. Stunning views from house and spectacular panaromic view a short walk from the house.
Plenty to do whatever the weather. Tennis courts and table tennis were well used. Only a 15 minute walk from the beach but also enjoyed, a short drive away, stunning views at Llanbedrog and spotted seals at Porthdinlaen.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would love to come back.

Thank you SO much for hosting this weekend for Alan and his friends. We had such an amazing time; the house was actually so much more than we expected and absolutely perfect!
We had such a lovely relaxing time and to have everything to hand was so reassuring. The BBQ on Saturday was fabulous. Thank you so much!
We had a fantastic day on Sunday with a trip to the beach at Porth Dinllaen, which is one of my favorites, and the weather couldn’t have been better. We then climber up to the top of Moel Ednyfed and saw those amazing views.
I know we forgot to write in the visitors book, so if you want any reviews on Trip Advisor or elsewhere we’d be happy to promote Mynydd Ednyfed.

The family cannot thank you and your husband enough for the amazing weekend we spent in your beautiful house.
Mum said it was the best weekend she has ever had and one she’ll never forget. Everything was perfect, from the accommodation, the location, the variety of games, to the most fantastic food on both evenings. Truly delicious and beautifully presented. Our heartfelt thanks to you both and all your hardworking staff. The icing on the cake was you all singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to mum in Welsh! Everyone, without exception, absolutely loved their time with you in Criccieth. Thank you so very much from us all.

Just back from an incredible week at the house. We were welcomed by Maureen and Arwel and given a tour, which was needed due to the size of the place! The weather wasn’t the best for a couple of days, but that allowed us to enjoy all the house had to offer. From film nights in the lounge, to pool tournaments in the conservatory, the 20 guests were never bored. Thank you for letting us stay the week, and making our wedding unforgettable.

We hired Mynydd Ednyfed for a week, so we could stay with family and friends after our wedding. We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The house is very comfortable with large living areas, a fantastic bar and a very well equipped kitchen. The bedrooms were all very comfortable and each has a different character. We made good use of the table tennis, pool table and the tennis court. Large well kept gardens for the kids to enjoy. Heartily recommended!

We stayed for a week in late January. it was absolutely perfect. the roaring log fire was a welcome treat in the evening when we returned from our outdoor sporting adventures. Maureen and Arwel’s hospitality show no bounds. the house is large and well appointed ... as are the bedrooms… couldn't recommend it more highly as an oasis of calm with a beautiful view of the hills and sea... well worth a walk to the top of the hill in front of the house with 360 degree commanding views of the whole area ... really really lovely place. thankyou Maureen and Arwel. see you next year riccardo
